Beach Hut Man, inspired by Amouage Beach Hut Man (2017)

Despite the name, Beach Hut Man smells more of undergrowth than of sea air. Mint and galbanum (a resin that smells of crushed green stems) make the opening cool and bitter, with orange blossom easing it slightly. The heart is damp and leafy, ivy leaves over vetiver and moss, with an earthy texture close to a forest floor. Patchouli and myrrh then take it into a darker, resinous base of dry woods.

About the original

Amouage released Beach Hut Man in September 2017, framing it as 'the infinity of the ocean and the silence of virgin forests'. Press coverage at launch credited Elise Benat, working with creative director Christopher Chong, although some sources name Dorothée Piot instead. Amouage markets it to men as a 100 ml Eau de Parfum and classes it as woody.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Amouage stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Men who like green, mossy scents with an earthy finish are the obvious match. It is dry throughout, without sugar or fruit, and the galbanum and mint opening can feel austere at first. A buyer expecting a salty, sun-cream kind of scent from the name will be surprised.
