Aqua Universalis, inspired by Maison Francis Kurkdjian Aqua Universalis (2009)

Aqua Universalis is built to smell clean above all. Bergamot and lemon give a clear, zesty start, and freesia and lily of the valley follow as a white floral bouquet that stays dewy rather than heady. Its base is light musky woods, which leaves the impression of freshly washed skin or laundry. There is nothing sweet or resinous in it.

About the original

Francis Kurkdjian released Aqua Universalis around 2009, the year he founded his house, as part of the Aqua collection; the date comes from fragrance references rather than brand press. The original is an eau de toilette, sold with refills. The Aqua line later grew to include Aqua Universalis Cologne Forte, a separate version, along with Aqua Celestia and Aqua Media Cologne Forte.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Maison Francis Kurkdjian stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Lovers of fresh laundry and clean skin scents tend to reach for this style. It is light and transparent, with no sweetness at all. Its simplicity is also its limit, and a buyer wanting depth or richness may find it too plain.

We base this one on the original Aqua Universalis Eau de Toilette. Aqua Universalis Cologne Forte is a separate version, which we also make as Aqua Universalis Forte.

Lightly. Freesia and lily of the valley sit in the heart, but citrus and musk shape its clean character.
