Athenais, inspired by Parfums de Marly Athénaïs (2026)

Citrus opens it: neroli with its green, slightly bitter orange-tree character, bergamot, and the tart grapefruit-mandarin note of yuzu. Orange blossom and jasmine follow, a heady white floral pairing that keeps some sparkle from the top. Underneath, tonka bean and vanilla form a powdery, faintly almond-like layer. Ambrox, a clean ambergris-style material, adds a smooth amber warmth underneath.

About the original

Athénaïs was released by Parfums de Marly as a new women's fragrance, reaching US stores around February 2026, and press coverage in May 2026 still called it the house's latest. Press describes it as inspired by Athénaïs de Montespan, the favourite of King Louis XIV. It is a floral amber, and the house has not named a perfumer. Athalia, by contrast, is a different Parfums de Marly women's scent with a similar-sounding name.

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Parfums de Marly stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Women drawn to orange blossom and jasmine but wary of sugary perfumes should look here first, since press coverage found it less sweet than many feminine releases. The vanilla and tonka drydown is powdery, so anyone who dislikes powder may notice it most at the end.
