Athalia, inspired by Parfums de Marly Athalia (2016)

Athalia pairs two bitter-edged openers, bitter orange and a curl of incense, before turning powdery. Iris, whose scent recalls cosmetic powder and violet-tinged root, takes over the heart with orange blossom beside it. The base is plush: amber and vanilla over suede, a leather note with a velvety, almost fabric-like feel. The brand's description also mentions musks and cashmeran, a woody-musky material.

About the original

Parfums de Marly introduced Athalia in 2016 as part of its women's line. Its name is close to two other house scents: Althaïr, a men's fragrance from 2023, and Athénaïs, also for women. Many wearers call it elegant and vintage in mood, while others find it dated.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Parfums de Marly stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Is Athalia the same as Parfums de Marly Althaïr?

No. Athalia (2016) is a powdery floral from the women's line; Althaïr (2023) is a men's fragrance. We make both.

Is Athalia very powdery?

Yes, the iris heart and amber-vanilla base are distinctly powdery. Some find this elegant, others too much.
