Cabotin

Cabotin, inspired by Parfums Grès Cabotine (1990)

Fruit and spice meet at the top: blackcurrant, plum, peach and tangerine alongside coriander and cassia. The heart is crowded with flowers, but ginger and tuberose lead, the ginger giving a green, peppery lift to the creamy tuberose. Hyacinth and carnation add a cool, clove-tinged edge. Sandalwood, cedar, vetiver and musk make a gentle base with a little vanilla and tonka.

About the original

Jean-Claude Delville created Cabotine for Parfums Grès in 1990, as a younger successor to the house's Cabochard. It became the root of a large family of flankers, including Cabotine Rose, Gold and Fleur. Our store name drops the final letter, but the reference is the original Cabotine. We have not been able to confirm from an official Grès source whether it is still produced.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Parfums Grès stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Its character is green and airy, transparent rather than dense. The sharp green floral opening can come across as strong to those who prefer soft, sweet bouquets.

Is Grès Cabotine still made?

We have not been able to confirm whether Grès still produces it. Some retailers continue to list it.

Is Cabotin the same as Cabotine?

Yes. Our product refers to Grès Cabotine (1990), not one of its flankers such as Cabotine Rose or Gold.
