Gucci Premiere, inspired by Gucci Première Eau de Parfum (2012)

Première starts with a burst of fruity musk and bergamot, upbeat and a little loud, which fades fairly quickly. Orange blossom and an unnamed bouquet of white flowers fill the middle, blended so no single bloom stands out. Below them is a woody musk with leather, suede-smooth and clean rather than animalic. Over time it settles and stays close to the skin.

About the original

Gucci launched Première in September 2012 under creative director Frida Giannini, taking its cue from the couture gowns of the Gucci Première collection shown at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival. Blake Lively was the face of the campaign, and an Eau de Toilette arrived in 2014. Gucci has made no public announcement, but the Eau de Parfum is no longer listed among its current lines and remaining bottles are mostly found at discounters.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Gucci stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Discreet enough for the office, it works for someone who wants to smell groomed rather than perfumed. The first minutes are louder and fruitier than the rest, and afterwards the scent sits quietly on skin, which may disappoint anyone hoping for a big floral.

Is Gucci Première discontinued?

It is no longer listed among Gucci's current fragrances, and the brand has not announced anything formally.

Is there leather in it?

Yes, but subtle. The leather is smooth and clean, closer to suede gloves than a biker jacket.

How does it compare with Gucci by Gucci?

Première is lighter and more polished, built on white flowers and musk. Gucci by Gucci (2007) leans on patchouli and is more overtly bold.

Is Gucci Premiere coming back?

So far, we have found no announcement from Gucci that it will return. Our version is an eau de parfum in 50 ml or 100 ml.
