Bouquet Ideale, inspired by Xerjoff Casamorati 1888 - Bouquet Ideale (2010)

Cinnamon and nutmeg give Bouquet Ideale a spiced, almost baked opening, but it soon dries out over cedar and guaiac wood, a wood with a smoky, slightly tarry tone. Coumarin, the tonka-like note that smells of hay and almond, adds a powdery sweetness to the base. Vanilla and musk smooth it out, with tobacco flower adding a mellow, tobacco-tinged nuance.

About the original

Bouquet Ideale dates from 2010 and belongs to Xerjoff's Casamorati line, named after a historic Bologna perfume house. According to Xerjoff, Sergio Momo reinterpreted a 19th-century Casamorati perfume that was largely floral, but did so without any floral notes. Perfume databases usually credit Jacques Flori as perfumer. The brand gives it no gender, although some retailers list it as a women's fragrance.

Who it suits

Spice lovers who find gourmand vanillas too sugary will appreciate how the woods hold it in check. The cinnamon is prominent and the finish is powdery, which may not appeal to someone looking for a fresh or clean scent.
