Oud Immortel, inspired by Byredo Oud Immortel (2010)

Incense sets a smoky, church-like tone from the start, with cardamom adding a cool, aromatic spice. Brazilian rosewood brings a smooth, faintly rosy woodiness to the heart, while papyrus contributes a reed-like dryness and patchouli an earthy depth. Moss and tobacco leaf make the base green and slightly bitter, with oud adding a dark, resinous woodiness.

About the original

Oud Immortel is generally dated to 2010, when it appeared alongside Accord Oud, a separate Byredo scent that is easily confused with it. Byredo lists it as an intense woody fragrance. The perfumer has not been confirmed.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Byredo stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Compared with the rose and oud blends common in the category, this is drier and greener, closer to incense and moss. It is a dark scent overall, and the smoke and bitterness may feel severe to those used to sweet ambers.

Is Oud Immortel a rose and oud scent?

No rose is listed; the rosewood in the heart is a wood note. Incense and moss surround the oud, making it smoky and green rather than floral.

How does it compare with Mumbai Noise?

Both have agarwood in the base. Mumbai Noise adds coffee and tonka for sweetness, whereas Oud Immortel is drier and more incense-led.
