Decision, inspired by Amouage Decision (2025)

Bergamot and cardamom give Decision a crisp, spiced start, with the tingle of pink pepper on top. The heart turns to resin: frankincense and myrrh, freshened by juniper with its gin-like, piney note. Underneath, cedar runs in a straight, clean line, and a modest dose of vanilla takes the edge off the dry woods without adding much sweetness. The result is restrained and fairly linear, more about texture than drama.

About the original

Amouage released Decision in May 2025 as one of the two final chapters of its Odyssey Collection, launched together with Existence. Quentin Bisch composed it under creative director Renaud Salmon, and the collection takes its cue from Jebel Shams, a mountain in Oman. The original is an eau de parfum. A later Decision 42 Exceptional Extrait adds neroli, cinnamon, pine tar and labdanum, so it is a different scent from this one.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Amouage stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Incense lovers who find most frankincense scents too smoky or ecclesiastical are its natural audience. It reads as a dry, mineral woody with very little sugar, so someone wanting a rich amber or a gourmand twist will find it austere.

Decision, the 2025 eau de parfum from the Odyssey Collection. Decision 42 is a later Exceptional Extrait with added neroli, cinnamon, pine tar and labdanum.

Is Decision smoky?

Frankincense and myrrh give it a resinous, incense character, but it stays dry and clean rather than heavily smoky.

Is it sweet?

Barely. Vanilla appears in the base only to soften the cedar.
