Halfeti Cedar, inspired by Penhaligon's Halfeti Cedar (2020)

Rum and cardamom give a spirited, aromatic start, with saffron's leathery warmth and peach adding a ripe edge. Dried fruits, cinnamon and immortelle (a flower that smells of curry leaf and honey) build a rich centre, cut by a cool mineral accord. Two cedars carry the structure: Virginia cedarwood, pencil-shaving dry, and Atlas cedarwood, deeper and more resinous. Vanilla, labdanum, patchouli and tonka close it on an amber note.

About the original

Penhaligon's launched Halfeti Cedar in mid-2020 as a flanker to Halfeti (2015), within its Trade Routes Collection. The brand described dried fruits, peach, saffron and cardamom cascading through cedar into a river of rum, minerals and vanilla. It is a different fragrance from Halfeti and Halfeti Leather, both of which are still sold. Halfeti Cedar no longer appears in Penhaligon's current Trade Routes range, although the brand has made no public statement about it.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Penhaligon's stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Halfeti owners who want more wood and less rose are the obvious match. The rum, dried fruit and vanilla make it rich and sweet-edged, so those who prefer a dry, austere cedar may find it heavier than expected.

Is Penhaligon's Halfeti Cedar discontinued?

It no longer appears in Penhaligon's current Trade Routes range, and some retailers show it as out of stock. We have not found an official statement from the brand.

How is Halfeti Cedar different from Halfeti and Halfeti Leather?

Halfeti Cedar puts cedarwood, rum and dried fruit at the centre, where the original Halfeti is built around rose. Halfeti and Halfeti Leather are separate scents, and we make both.

Is Penhaligon's Halfeti Cedar coming back?

So far, we have found no announcement from Penhaligon's that it will return. Our version is an eau de parfum in 50 ml or 100 ml.
