Dry Wood, inspired by Ramon Monegal Dry Wood (2012)

Citron and bay laurel give the top a resinous, herbal lift, and black pepper sharpens it straight away. Oakmoss brings a damp, forest-floor bitterness underneath. The woods then take over: cedar and sandalwood with cashmeran, a musky material that feels like wool, and norlimbanol, which smells dry and almost scratchy, like split timber. Nothing sweet smooths it over, which is exactly the point.

About the original

Ramon Monegal composed Dry Wood for his own Barcelona house, and it was one of the 14 fragrances in the brand's debut line in 2012. Reviewers have called it the most masculine scent of that first line. Dry Wood is no longer in the brand's online perfume index, along with other 2012 scents such as Umbra and Cuirelle, though it may still be available in the Barcelona boutique and at a few retailers. Published note lists vary, so the notes here follow the most consistent sources.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Ramon Monegal stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Dry woods and herbs make this a scent for someone who finds most woody fragrances too sweet or ambery. The pepper and norlimbanol give it a rough texture that can come across as harsh on first spray.

No. Herbs, pepper and dry woods dominate, with no vanilla or amber in the documented notes.

Is Ramon Monegal Dry Wood coming back?

So far, we have found no announcement from Ramon Monegal that it will return. Our version is an eau de parfum in 50 ml or 100 ml.
