Black Guava, inspired by BORNTOSTANDOUT Black Guava (2025)

Guava opens the scent, pulpy and a little tart, with cardamom lending a cool, green spice and mandarin some zest. Rose, peony and geranium fill the middle with a rosy, slightly minty floral tone, and they lead into oud, which gives the fruit a smoky shadow. That contrast is what the whole composition is built on. Cypriol (an earthy, smoky root note), patchouli and grey amber give the base a resinous depth.

About the original

Black Guava belongs to BORNTOSTANDOUT's Extrait Extrême line, launched in 2025 together with Black Mango. The Seoul-based niche house was founded in 2022, and this collection sits at a higher concentration than its standard eaux de parfum. Retailer copy says the formula is overdosed with natural oud and aged for three months in Onggi earthenware, the traditional Korean storage pots. It was created by Suzy Le Helley.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not BORNTOSTANDOUT stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Oud fans who want something less sombre than a classic woody oud will find the guava an unusual lift. Retailers stress the smoky side, so this is not a breezy fruit scent. If smoke or oud is a dealbreaker, look elsewhere in the range.

Is Black Guava a fruity scent or an oud?

Both. Guava leads the opening, oud follows the rose and geranium heart, and the drydown is smoky and resinous.

How does Black Guava differ from Black Mango?

The two launched together in the same collection. Black Guava pairs fruit with rose and smoky oud, while Black Mango moves into a mango-lassi and vanilla heart over leather.
