Eleventh Hour, inspired by Byredo Eleventh Hour (2018)

Ban timmur, a Nepalese relative of Sichuan pepper, gives the top a tingling, grapefruit-like spice that bergamot freshens further. Rum and wild fig follow, the fig green and milky, the rum adding a dark, molasses tone. Carrot seed is the odd note here: earthy and faintly powdery, it keeps the fig from reading as simply fruity. Tonka and cashmere woods finish it with a gentle, almond-like sweetness.

About the original

Eleventh Hour arrived in late 2018, released for the holiday season. Byredo built it around the idea of 'the last perfume on Earth', with references to the explorer Ella Maillart and to Nepal. The brand files it under fruity scents at medium intensity, and a hair perfume version also exists.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Byredo stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Winter is where it was positioned and where it has been reviewed, and the rum and tonka suit cold weather. Pepper and carrot seed give it a savoury undertone that may strike some wearers as slightly vegetal.
