La Capitale, inspired by Xerjoff La Capitale (2018)

La Capitale starts sweet and fruity: caramel with strawberry and peach, close to a boiled sweet. Saffron and ginger add a spicy lift, while rose brings a slight powderiness. Labdanum and leather give the middle a darker, more grown-up texture. In the base, amber and benzoin add a balsamic glow and oud with Bourbon vanilla closes it.

About the original

La Capitale was released around 2018, according to a retailer, and was originally grouped in the Shooting Stars collection. Xerjoff's own site now lists it in the Spotlight collection. It is the only Xerjoff fragrance with this name. Retailers sell it as an eau de parfum, although the official page address uses the word parfum.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Xerjoff stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Fans of sweet fruit with a twist will get on with it best. The candy-like opening is the part most people notice, but leather and labdanum make it polarising. For a straightforward fruity scent, the base may feel too dark.

It was originally sold in the Shooting Stars collection, and Xerjoff now lists it under Spotlight. It is the same fragrance.

The opening is, with caramel, strawberry and peach. The leather, labdanum and oud underneath make it less straightforward than a pure fruity scent.
