Blue Talisman, inspired by Ex Nihilo Blue Talisman (2023)

Pear sets the tone from the first spray, crisp and watery rather than candied, with bergamot and mandarin keeping it lively. Ginger adds a tingle that stops the fruit from feeling flat. Orange blossom follows, light and slightly honeyed, before a clean base of modern woody and ambery materials takes over. The overall effect is luminous and uncluttered.

About the original

Ex Nihilo, the Paris house founded in 2013, released Blue Talisman in 2023 to mark its tenth anniversary. Jordi Fernández created it. One 2023 blog post described it as a limited edition, but the brand now sells it as a permanent collection, with body lotion and hand cream alongside. A separate Blue Talisman Extrait came later with a different note list, including jasmine sambac, sandalwood and vanilla; this page refers to the original eau de parfum.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Ex Nihilo stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Its clean, unisex profile makes it an easy choice for people who avoid heavy ambers and gourmands. The pear is noticeable throughout, so it is less suited to someone who dislikes fruit in a perfume.

Orange blossom forms the heart alongside Georgywood, a smooth woody material with a slightly fruity edge.

The drydown rests on Ambrofix (a clean, ambergris-like note), akigalawood and musks, dry and smooth to the end.

Is this the Blue Talisman eau de parfum or the Extrait?

It is inspired by the original Blue Talisman Eau de Parfum from 2023. The Extrait is a later version with a different note list.

Is Blue Talisman a limited edition?

It launched for Ex Nihilo's tenth anniversary and one early blog post called it limited, but the brand now sells it as part of its permanent range.

How sweet is the pear?

Only mildly. The fruit is fresh and the base is woody and musky, so it never reaches gourmand territory.
