Laylati, inspired by Xerjoff Laylati (2019)

Laylati begins on herbal notes, green and a touch bitter, which some wearers find sharp in the first minutes. Cedarwood and patchouli then build a dry, earthy woody middle. Tobacco gives the base its smoky tone, with vanilla taking the edge off and musk smoothing the finish.

About the original

Laylati belongs to Xerjoff's Vibe collection, which retailers often sell as the V-Collection, and Xerjoff explains the name as Arabic for 'my night'. Its bottles come with a Xerjoff silk foulard. Fragrance fragrance references date it to 2019, and one credits Chris Maurice as perfumer; we have not found Xerjoff confirming either.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Xerjoff stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Smoky and woody rather than sweet, it is placed by reviews on fragrance sites in evenings and cooler weather. It is regarded as polarising: the herbal opening can read sharp, so a buyer hoping for smooth vanilla from the first spray may prefer something gentler.
