Musk Aoud, inspired by Roja Parfums Musk Aoud (2013)

Lemon and bergamot offer a brief, bright start before rose, jasmine and ylang-ylang bloom in the heart. The base is where the scent really lives. Oud and birch give a smoky leather tone, labdanum and tonka add a balsamic richness, and ambrette with musk adds a soft, skin-like warmth. Oakmoss, patchouli and nutmeg add shading, so the overall effect is dark and layered.

About the original

Musk Aoud was released in 2013 as part of the Aoud range from Roja Parfums, the British house founded by perfumer Roja Dove. It was sold as a Parfum. It is separate from Musk Aoud Absolue Précieux, an extrait from the same year, and from the Harrods Musk Aoud candle, which is still sold. Musk Aoud no longer appears in Roja's current collection and its old product page now redirects elsewhere.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Roja Parfums stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Its leathery, smoky oud character will appeal to people who already enjoy oud and leather. Those expecting a clean, airy musk from the name may be surprised by how dark and balsamic it turns.

Is Roja Musk Aoud discontinued?

It no longer appears in Roja's current collection and is out of stock at a major retailer. The brand has made no public statement about it.

Is this the Musk Aoud candle or Absolue Précieux?

Neither. This is inspired by the wearable 2013 Musk Aoud Parfum. The Harrods candle and Musk Aoud Absolue Précieux are separate products.

Does it smell of clean musk?

Not really. Despite the name, it is a dark oud and leather scent with musk in the background.

Is Roja Parfums Musk Aoud coming back?

So far, we have found no announcement from Roja Parfums that it will return. Our version is an eau de parfum in 50 ml or 100 ml.
