Megamare, inspired by Orto Parisi Megamare (2019)

Bergamot and lemon pass quickly, and the sea arrives almost at once. Calone, a molecule that smells of watermelon rind and sea air, combines with seaweed for a salty, mineral character. Hedione adds an airy, jasmine-like lift, and everlasting (immortelle) brings a dry, hay-and-honey undertone. Cedar and ambrox, a woody ambergris-like note, give the base a dry structure, with musk underneath.

About the original

Orto Parisi launched Megamare in 2019, and a stockist credits Alessandro Gualtieri, the house's founder, as its perfumer. Databases class it as an aromatic aquatic. One stockist describes it as a woody marine that treats the sea as force rather than freshness. Its note list comes from a stockist, as the official page gives none.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Orto Parisi stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Light, sporty aquatics are the opposite of what Megamare offers: it is briny and mineral, with the seaweed front and centre. That makes it a good choice for people who want an unusual marine, but less so for buyers after a clean, soapy freshness.
