Pacific Rock Moss, inspired by Goldfield & Banks Pacific Rock Moss (2017)

Lemon and a coastal moss accord open it together, the moss giving a salty, slightly green impression of spray on wet rock. French sage soon comes through, herbal and a little camphorous, with Egyptian geranium adding a rosy, leafy note. Virginia cedarwood and white musk form a clean, dry base. Goldfield & Banks describes it as crisp, aquatic and luminous.

About the original

Goldfield & Banks, the Australian niche house, released Pacific Rock Moss in 2017 as part of its Native Collection. It was inspired by Australia's South Coast and by naturally harvested coastal moss. François Merle-Baudoin and Carine Certain Boin created it, with Dimitri Weber as creative director. The name is sometimes written Pacific Rockmoss, and some retailers label it an extrait, though the brand calls it an eau de parfum.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Goldfield & Banks stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Summer is where retailers place it, and the salty, herbal profile fits hot weather. Sage and geranium give it an aromatic, slightly bitter side, which some may find less easy than a sweet marine scent.

Is Pacific Rock Moss an eau de parfum or an extrait?

Goldfield & Banks calls the original an eau de parfum, although some retailers label it an extrait because of its 20% concentration. Our version is made as an eau de parfum.

Is it an aquatic or an aromatic?

A bit of both: the moss accord gives the marine feel, and sage and geranium make it aromatic.
