Narcotic Delight, inspired by Initio Parfums Privés Narcotic Delight (2024)

Cherry opens it, glossy and liqueur-soaked, with pink and black pepper cutting through the fruit. Cognac follows, and a large dose of Hedione, a molecule with an airy, luminous jasmine character, keeps the boozy heart from feeling stuffy. The drydown turns to tobacco and vanilla, rich and smooth, with a hint of cigar smoke that some writers pick up. The sweetness never fully recedes.

About the original

Narcotic Delight was announced in January 2024 and reached retail in March that year. It belongs to the Carnal Blends collection of Initio Parfums Privés, the French niche house. Initio has not publicly named the perfumer, and the brand does not market its scents by gender. The name is unrelated to Nasomatto Narcotic Venus, a different fragrance we also make.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Initio Parfums Privés stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Night-time and colder weather are where reviews place it, which matches its density. The cherry-vanilla sweetness is strong and the tobacco gives it a smoky undertone, so people who dislike boozy or syrupy scents will struggle with it.

No. Narcotic Delight is by Initio; Narcotic Venus is an unrelated Nasomatto fragrance. We make both.

Does Narcotic Delight smell like cherry liqueur?

The opening does, with cherry and cognac together. It becomes more tobacco and vanilla as it dries.

Is it very sweet?

Yes, the cherry and vanilla are prominent. The peppers and tobacco add some contrast.
