Nio, inspired by Xerjoff Nio

Nio opens with bergamot and Tunisian neroli, bright and Mediterranean, seasoned with pink pepper and a touch of cardamom and nutmeg. Green leaves and jasmine give the heart a leafy, floral note. Haitian vetiver, a root with an earthy, slightly smoky smell, gives the base its character. Guaiac wood, cedar and amber close it without sugar.

About the original

Nio belongs to Xerjoff's Shooting Stars collection, whose coffrets include a fragment of meteorite. A retailer credits a French perfumer without naming them, and no launch year has been confirmed. Labelling is inconsistent: Selfridges lists an eau de parfum, the official page address says parfum, and some retailers call it parfum.

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Xerjoff stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

A good fit for someone who wants a fresh scent with more structure than a plain citrus. The spice is aromatic, not sweet. Anyone after a sugary or gourmand profile will find it too dry.
