Opopanax (H), inspired by Diptyque Opopanax

Opopanax resin gives the scent a thick, balsamic richness with a faintly honeyed edge. Curls of incense rise above it, adding smoke and an airy contrast. Vanilla sits low in the mix, smoothing the resin rather than sweetening it. Because the reference is a candle, ours turns that room-filling atmosphere into a perfume worn on skin.

About the original

Opopanax is part of Diptyque's home fragrance collection and is sold as a classic 190 g scented candle; there is no Diptyque perfume of that name. The brand describes the resin as one prized along ancient trade routes and related to myrrh and benzoin. Diptyque's perfume built around opoponax is Eau Lente, a spiced eau de toilette, which we also make. Our Opopanax is a wearable perfume inspired by the candle's scent.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Diptyque stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Next to Eau Lente, it drops the cinnamon and citrus and stays with resin, incense and vanilla. The candle carries no gender positioning, and the scent works as unisex. Its incense may not suit a buyer who wants a clean, simple vanilla.

Beneath them the resin is balmy and enveloping, related in smell to myrrh and benzoin.

Vanilla lies lowest of all, subtle and smooth, softening the edges of resin and incense.

Is Diptyque Opopanax a perfume?

No. Diptyque sells Opopanax only as a scented candle. Ours is a wearable perfume inspired by that candle's scent.

Which Diptyque perfume features opoponax?

Eau Lente, an eau de toilette from 1986 built on opoponax with cinnamon, red tangerine and cedar. We also make a version inspired by it.

Inside the EU, delivery is free on orders of €49 or more. Below that it is a flat €4.99. Outside the EU, delivery is a flat €4.99 on every order. We send every order in 1 to 2 working days.
