Pardon, inspired by Nasomatto Pardon (2011)

Pardon pairs cocoa with wood. Dark chocolate and cinnamon give a spiced, bittersweet heart, and tonka and vanilla smooth it out. Underneath, oud and sandalwood add depth while castoreum, an animalic note with a leathery feel, keeps it from tasting like dessert. Magnolia appears early in fragrance references, a pale floral note before the cocoa takes hold.

About the original

Alessandro Gualtieri released Pardon in 2011. Nasomatto says it 'aims to evoke the persuasion of utmost masculine elegance and charm', and markets it to men alongside Duro. One retailer calls it 'forceful but smooth'. Its cap is briarwood, the wood used for tobacco pipes, and the notes here come from fragrance references because the brand lists none.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Nasomatto stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Chocolate is the hook, but the result is spiced and woody more than sweet-shop. Castoreum and oud may surprise a buyer expecting a simple cocoa gourmand.

Nasomatto markets it to men. Our store files it as unisex, and its chocolate, spice and wood notes are not tied to either.

How does Pardon compare with Duro?

Both are Nasomatto's male-marketed scents. Duro is a dark woody leather with spice and patchouli; Pardon is gourmand, built on chocolate and cinnamon over oud and sandalwood.
