Pegasus, inspired by Parfums de Marly Pegasus (2011)

Pegasus starts with bergamot, quickly softened by almond, the note that gives it most of its character. Its middle is gently aromatic and floral before the base takes over. Vanilla and sandalwood settle underneath, with ambrox adding a dry, ambery woodiness.

About the original

Pegasus was the sixth fragrance from Parfums de Marly, launched in 2011, two years after the house was founded. Creative director Julien Sprecher calls it an ode to elegance and confidence, with powerful notes of vanilla and almond. The brand sells it as an eau de parfum for men, while some databases list it as an eau de toilette. The brand's current note list also differs from the commonly cited earlier one; a reformulation has not been confirmed by the brand.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Parfums de Marly stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Almond lovers are the obvious match, since the nutty, powdery sweetness never really leaves. It is marketed to men. Wearers who want a bracing citrus scent will find the bergamot is only a brief prelude to vanilla.
