Psychedelic Love, inspired by Initio Parfums Privés Psychedelic Love (2017)

Bergamot gives a brief fresh start before rose and heliotropin settle in together. Heliotropin smells of almond and fine powder, a little like marzipan, and it makes the rose feel plush. Myrrh, a resin with a bitter, balsamic smell, adds depth, while patchouli and vanilla give the base some warmth. Hedione keeps the whole thing radiant instead of heavy.

About the original

Initio launched Psychedelic Love in 2017 as part of its Carnal Blends collection. Initio does not name its perfumers. Some fragrance databases list ylang-ylang and sandalwood in its pyramid, but the brand's own note list does not include them, so we have kept to the official notes.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Initio Parfums Privés stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Rose wearers who find Atomic Rose too straightforward may prefer this darker, more resinous take. Heliotropin gives it a powdery side, which powder-averse buyers should know about. Myrrh brings an incense-like, almost ecclesiastical edge to the drydown.

Is Psychedelic Love powdery?

Somewhat. Heliotropin gives it an almond, powdery tone, but myrrh and patchouli stop it from becoming a pure powder scent.

How is it different from Initio Atomic Rose?

Both are rose scents from Initio. Atomic Rose is a fuller, fresher rose with jasmine, while Psychedelic Love adds heliotropin and myrrh for a more powdery, resinous feel.
