Donna Born In Roma, inspired by Valentino Donna Born in Roma Eau de Parfum (2019)

Blackcurrant and pink pepper start things off, tart and a little spiky, with bergamot for lift. Jasmine follows in three forms: grandiflorum, sambac and a jasmine tea accord, so the flower comes across both lush and slightly tea-like. Bourbon vanilla then spreads underneath. Cashmeran, a musky, woody material, and guaiac wood, which smells lightly smoky, keep the vanilla from turning dessert-like.

About the original

Valentino launched Donna Born in Roma in summer 2019 together with Uomo Born in Roma. The brand describes it as a modern couture floriental with an edge drawn from Rome's street culture, and the studded bottle nods to Roman architecture. It has since gained several flankers, including an Intense version that we also make. It is a separate line from the earlier Valentino Donna of 2015.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Valentino stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Autumn and winter suit it best, as Valentino itself suggests. The vanilla is plain to smell and the jasmine is full, so it has real presence. Smoky woods and obvious vanilla are part of the design, which makes it a poor match for a light office scent.
