Super Cedar, inspired by Byredo Super Cedar (2016)

A light touch of rose petals opens it, more a pale floral tint than a bouquet. Cedarwood takes over almost at once, the dry, pencil-shavings kind that Byredo links to memories of school days. Haitian vetiver draws a grassy, slightly earthy line beneath, and silk musk keeps the finish smooth. It stays airy rather than heavy, with no smoke or resin.

About the original

Super Cedar arrived in March 2016 as a unisex eau de parfum, created by Jérôme Epinette for the Stockholm house. It centres on Virginian cedarwood, with rose petals above and vetiver and silk musk below. Only one version exists, sold in 50 and 100 ml, with a 250 ml bottle added for the 2023 holiday season. It is part of Byredo's main eau de parfum range.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Byredo stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Its appeal is restraint. Lovers of wood scents who want one without smoke or heavy sweetness will find it clean and uncomplicated. The rose is faint, so a buyer wanting an obvious floral may find it plain.

Byredo makes one version, an eau de parfum. The 250 ml bottle sold for the 2023 holidays was a larger size of the same scent.

Is Super Cedar masculine or feminine?

Byredo markets it as unisex, and the cedar, vetiver and musk structure wears that way.
