Sycomore, inspired by Chanel Sycomore Les Exclusifs de Chanel (2008)

Vetiver is the backbone, smoky and rooty, with an earthiness that defines the scent. At the top, pink pepper and juniper bring a peppery, gin-like crispness, and aldehydes give a brief, clean shimmer. Cypress and a touch of violet sit beside the vetiver in the heart, adding resinous green and a faint floral coolness. Sandalwood and balsamic notes round off the base.

About the original

Sycomore joined Les Exclusifs de Chanel in 2008 as an eau de toilette, usually credited to Jacques Polge with Christopher Sheldrake. The name goes back to a 1930s Chanel scent by Ernest Beaux. Chanel later moved Sycomore to eau de parfum, reportedly around 2016, and also offers a parfum version. Its current page describes a deep, smoky vetiver accented by cedar and vanilla.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Chanel stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

It is a vetiver lover's vetiver, aimed at fans of the root's smoky, earthy side. Wearers looking for a fresh, citrus vetiver may find it brooding, as the smoke is part of its identity.

Is it the same as the 1930s Sycomore?

No. The 2008 Sycomore borrows its name from an older Chanel scent by Ernest Beaux and was created for Les Exclusifs.
