Amber & Lavender

Amber & Lavender, inspired by Jo Malone London Amber & Lavender Cologne (1995)

Basil, rosemary and petitgrain open with an aromatic, slightly bitter green freshness. Lavender then comes forward, warmed by nutmeg and cinnamon. The base is amber with musk, vetiver and oakmoss, which gives the structure of a fougère: a perfume family built on lavender and a mossy, woody foundation. It feels herbal at the start and gently resinous by the end.

About the original

Amber & Lavender is one of Jo Malone's early colognes, launched in 1995 and often presented as a men's amber fougère. Like the rest of the brand's colognes, it is marketed as unisex, and Jo Malone encourages 'fragrance combining', wearing two of its colognes together. Retailers sometimes summarise the scent as amber, French lavender and myrrh.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Jo Malone London stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Lavender lovers who find most versions too clean or barbershop-like may appreciate the spice and amber here. It reads masculine to some, and the herbal top notes can feel sharp before the base settles.
