Femme, inspired by Montblanc Femme de Montblanc (2006)

Cinnamon and cardamom give the opening a spiced, bakery warmth, cut with pineapple and bergamot. Heliotrope, a flower with an almond and marzipan smell, shapes the heart together with Turkish rose, orange blossom and jasmine. The base is the richest part: dark chocolate, patchouli and amber, with raspberry and peach adding fruit and vetiver a dry edge. It is sweet throughout, but the spice keeps it from feeling one-dimensional.

About the original

Femme de Montblanc was launched in 2006, the year Montblanc marked its centenary. It existed as an Eau de Toilette and an Eau de Parfum. It is not the same fragrance as Femme Individuelle (2004), an earlier Montblanc women's scent. Femme de Montblanc no longer appears among Montblanc's fragrances for women, and at least one large retailer lists it as sold out.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Montblanc stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Cinnamon and chocolate make this a cold-weather scent first and foremost. It is sweet and fairly rich, close in spirit to Lolita Lempicka. The original divided opinion, and cinnamon combined with gourmand sweetness is a pairing some noses simply reject.

Is this Femme de Montblanc or Femme Individuelle?

Femme de Montblanc, the 2006 fragrance with cinnamon, heliotrope and chocolate. Femme Individuelle is an earlier and different Montblanc scent.

Is Femme de Montblanc still made?

It no longer appears in Montblanc's range and is reported as discontinued, though Montblanc has made no announcement we know of.

How sweet is it?

Quite sweet. Chocolate, amber and fruit sit in the base, though cinnamon and cardamom keep some spice running through.
