Happy, inspired by Clinique Happy for women (1997)

Ruby red grapefruit and mandarin open it with a sweet-tart zest, sharpened by bergamot. Behind the citrus sits a cluster of airy florals, which Clinique names Hawaiian wedding flower and morning dew orchid. They come across as light and slightly indolic, meaning they carry a faint richness typical of white flowers. Mimosa and a sheer wood accord close it gently, keeping the freshness to the end.

About the original

Rodrigo Flores-Roux and Jean-Claude Delville composed Clinique Happy, which launched in 1997. It became one of Clinique's bestselling fragrances, and Steven Meisel photographed its advertising. Clinique also sells Happy for Men, a separate fragrance; this page is inspired by the women's version, sold today as an eau de parfum.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Clinique stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Easy-going and uncomplicated, it works as a daily scent for people who find most florals too heavy. The citrus is sweet-tart rather than biting, but anyone looking for depth or richness will find little of it here.
