Hypnose

Hypnose, inspired by Lancôme Hypnôse (2005)

Hypnôse rests on one pairing: vanilla and vetiver, a smooth sweetness set against a rooty, slightly smoky grass. Passion flower opens it with an exotic, faintly fruity brightness, and bergamot adds a short citrus flash. Jasmine sambac and gardenia fill the middle without becoming loud. As it dries the vanilla grows rounder, while the vetiver keeps it from going sugary.

About the original

Lancôme introduced Hypnôse in 2005. Osmoz credits Annick Menardo and Thierry Wasser of Firmenich. The brand describes it as amber and woody, and it comes in a twisting helix bottle of purple-blue glass. A men's Hypnôse Homme exists as a different fragrance; this page is the women's Eau de Parfum.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Lancôme stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Vanilla fans who want something drier than a pure gourmand may like it, because the vetiver adds an earthy edge. The floral top is sunny and exotic rather than powdery. On some skins the vetiver reads more clearly than the flowers, which matters if earthy notes are not to your taste.

Does Hypnôse smell like plain vanilla?

No. Vanilla is central, but vetiver adds an earthy, dry edge and passion flower and jasmine give it a floral top.
