Loverdose

Loverdose, inspired by Diesel Loverdose (2011)

A quick flash of lemon and mandarin gives way to the note that defines Loverdose: licorice, sweet and slightly medicinal, reinforced by star anise. Jasmine and gardenia keep it feminine and floral rather than candied. The base turns smooth and woody, with vanilla, cedar, sandalwood and ambroxan, a modern ambergris-like material with a clean, salty warmth. The anise never quite leaves.

About the original

Diesel launched Loverdose in 2011 under its L'Oréal licence, marketing it as a 21st-century love potion. Olivier Cresp and Honorine Blanc of Firmenich created it, and its heart-shaped purple bottle became the template for later flankers. Those include Loverdose L'Eau de Toilette and the 2015 Loverdose Red Kiss, which takes the line in a sweeter, nuttier direction.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Diesel stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Licorice is the dividing line. Lovers of anise and dark sweetness tend to adore it, while anyone who dislikes aniseed in food will probably not get past the heart.

This is the original 2011 Loverdose eau de parfum. Loverdose Red Kiss (2015) is sweeter and nuttier, and we make it too.
