Mon Guerlain, inspired by Guerlain Mon Guerlain Eau de Parfum (2017)

Lavender is the first thing you notice, herbal and crisp, with a squeeze of bergamot. Within minutes it starts to merge with vanilla, and the pairing is the whole point of the scent: aromatic and edible at once. Jasmine sambac and iris sit in the middle, adding a floral and lightly powdery layer. Sandalwood and coumarin, the hay-like molecule found in tonka, give the base a creamy, rounded finish.

About the original

Thierry Wasser and Delphine Jelk composed Mon Guerlain, which Guerlain launched in 2017 with Angelina Jolie as the face of the campaign. Guerlain classes it as an ambery fragrance and names four key ingredients: French lavender, sambac jasmine, sandalwood and vanilla tahitensis. It comes in the house's four-lobed bottle. An Eau de Toilette followed in 2018, and other flankers such as Florale and Intense came later.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Guerlain stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

A good choice for anyone who finds pure vanilla perfumes too sugary, since the lavender keeps it airy at the start. It turns cosier as it dries down. Expect creaminess and some powder; it is not a fresh scent despite the lavender.

Does Mon Guerlain smell strongly of lavender?

Lavender is clear in the opening, then blends into vanilla and sandalwood. Later on, the vanilla carries the scent.
