Olympea, inspired by Rabanne Olympéa (2015)

Olympéa opens fresh, with green mandarin, water jasmine and ginger flower giving a clean floral sparkle. At its centre sits the salted vanilla accord, where a saline edge tempers the sweetness. That salt is what makes it distinctive. Ambergris and sandalwood form the base, smooth and warm, and Rabanne calls the result almost animal.

About the original

Rabanne released Olympéa in August 2015 as the feminine partner to Invictus. Loc Dong and Anne Flipo composed it, and Marc Ange designed the bottle in the shape of a laurel crown. Intense, Solar, Absolu and Elixir versions followed later.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Rabanne (formerly Paco Rabanne) stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

The salted vanilla gives it a sensual, skin-like feel that reads more grown-up than a straightforward sweet vanilla. It is still an ambery, vanilla-led scent, so it is the wrong choice for a fresh or green perfume.

What does salted vanilla smell like?

Vanilla with a mineral, slightly savoury edge, a little like salted caramel without the burnt sugar. It makes Olympéa less sugary than most vanilla perfumes.

Is Olympéa the women's Invictus?

Rabanne presented it as the feminine counterpart to Invictus (2013). The two are separate compositions.

Is this the original Olympéa or the Intense?

The original 2015 eau de parfum. Olympéa Intense and Solar are separate flankers, which we stock as well.
