Poison Girl, inspired by Dior Poison Girl Eau de Parfum (2016)

Bitter orange gives Poison Girl a tart, zesty start that contrasts with what follows. Two roses come through in the heart, but the base soon pulls the scent towards dessert territory, with tonka bean, almond and vanilla. Tolu balsam, a resin with a cinnamon-like sweetness, deepens the finish.

About the original

François Demachy composed Poison Girl for Dior, launched in January 2016 as an Eau de Parfum, with Camille Rowe as the face of the campaign. Dior aimed it at a younger audience than the 1985 Poison and described it as a bitter-sweet floral. An Eau de Toilette version followed in 2017, and both remain part of Dior's Poison range.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Dior stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Fans of sweet vanilla and almond scents who still want some contrast will enjoy the bitter orange edge. Sweetness is pronounced in the drydown, which may put off people who prefer dry or fresh florals.

How is Poison Girl different from the original Poison?

They are very different in style. Poison (1985) is a dense spiced amber with plum and tuberose; Poison Girl is a sweeter rose with bitter orange, almond and vanilla.

Is Poison Girl sweet?

Yes, especially in the drydown, where tonka, vanilla and almond take over. The bitter orange opening tempers it at first.

Is this the Eau de Parfum or the Eau de Toilette?

This page refers to the 2016 Eau de Parfum. The 2017 Eau de Toilette is a lighter variant.
