Satine

Satine, inspired by Lalique Satine (2013)

Lalique frames Satine in three stages: a floral opening, a gourmand heart and a woody drydown. Jasmine and gardenia appear first with a touch of pink pepper for sparkle. Heliotrope, a flower that smells of almond and powder, then blends with tonka bean and vanilla to give the middle its sweet, satiny feel. Sandalwood, cedar and patchouli ground it, and suede adds a supple, leathery finish.

About the original

Satine was announced in January 2013 and created by Nathalie Lorson, with the world of dance as its theme. Its bottle is modelled on Lalique's 1924 La Perle Noire flacon. A numbered 40 ml extrait was also issued as a limited edition, and Lalique sells a separate Satine Crystal Flacon; this page refers to the eau de parfum. The brand's own page describes the structure but does not list notes, so the notes here follow press sources.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Lalique stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Satine sits at the meeting point of white flowers and dessert, so it pleases people who enjoy both. Heliotrope and vanilla make it noticeably sweet and powdery, while suede and patchouli give it more depth than a simple floral. Lovers of fresh, green or citrus scents may find it too plush.

The eau de parfum from 2013. Lalique also sells Satine in a crystal flacon and once issued a numbered 40 ml extrait.

What does heliotrope smell like?

Almond, vanilla and a little powder, sometimes compared to marzipan. In Satine it bridges the white flowers and the sweet base.
