Silver Rain

Silver Rain, inspired by La Prairie Silver Rain (2004)

Silver Rain starts crisp: bergamot and green apple, a pinch of red pepper and a lemony touch of verbena. The white flowers follow, with gardenia, star magnolia and Indian tuberose giving a creamy, full-bodied heart, and red rose adding colour. The base turns smooth and sweet through vanilla, tonka bean, sandalwood and patchouli. It moves from fresh to opulent rather than staying in one register.

About the original

Silver Rain was announced in October 2004 as La Prairie's first fragrance, although some sources give 2005, probably for its wider rollout. It was presented in a silver raindrop bottle, and a lighter Silver Rain Shimmer Mist followed at Nordstrom in 2006; this page refers to the original eau de parfum, not the mist. Note lists vary between sources, and the notes on this page follow the Osmoz pyramid. La Prairie no longer sells fragrance on its official sites, and Silver Rain is listed as discontinued in one perfume encyclopedia.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not La Prairie stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

White-floral devotees who like a fresh, peppery entrance are its best match. Some early wearers found it heavy, so it may feel too rich for anyone who prefers sheer, transparent scents.

Is La Prairie Silver Rain discontinued?

It no longer appears in La Prairie's range, as the brand no longer sells fragrance on its official sites, and it is listed as discontinued by one perfume encyclopedia. At least one retailer shows it as sold out.

Is this the eau de parfum or the Shimmer Mist?

The original Silver Rain eau de parfum from 2004. The Shimmer Mist (2006) was a lighter, shimmering version.

Is La Prairie Silver Rain coming back?

So far, we have found no announcement from La Prairie that it will return. Our version is an eau de parfum in 50 ml or 100 ml.
