Aqva Divina, inspired by Bvlgari Aqva Divina (2015)

A salty accord meets ginger and bergamot in the first minutes, giving a sea-spray freshness with a little spice. Quince, a fragrant fruit somewhere between apple and pear, adds a gentle golden note in the heart, while magnolia brings a lemony floral glow. The base is the unusual part: beeswax gives a honeyed, waxy smoothness, and with amber and woods it creates the impression of sun-warmed skin. The comparison most often made is with tanned skin and sunscreen.

About the original

Aqva Divina, by Alberto Morillas, was the first women's fragrance in Bvlgari's Aqva line when it launched in 2015. Its concept drew on Botticelli's The Birth of Venus, with the goddess rising from the sea. It no longer appears in Bvlgari's current women's range, and it is widely reported as discontinued, although some markets still carry it.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Bvlgari stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Holidays and beach days are its natural setting. The salt and beeswax give it a lived-in, skin-close feel rather than a showy one. Those expecting a classic fresh floral may find the waxy, sunscreen-like base unexpected.

Does Aqva Divina smell like sunscreen?

Many wearers say so. The beeswax and amber base, with the salt accord, recalls tanned skin and suncream, but it is not very sweet.

Is Bvlgari Aqva Divina discontinued?

It is no longer listed in Bvlgari's women's range and is reported as discontinued, though some markets may still stock it.

Is it related to the men's Aqva?

Yes, it belongs to the same Aqva line, but it is a separate women's fragrance with a fruitier, waxier character.

Is Bvlgari Aqva Divina coming back?

So far, we have found no announcement from Bvlgari that it will return. Our version is an eau de parfum in 50 ml or 100 ml.
