Cactus Garden, inspired by Louis Vuitton Cactus Garden (2019)

Maté is a South American tea brewed from the leaves of a holly, and here it sets the tone: green, herbal and faintly smoky. Lemongrass adds a lemony, cut-grass note while bergamot keeps the top fresh. LV called the maté 'singular and exotic'. The result is drier and greener than the house's orange-led colognes.

About the original

Cactus Garden was one of three 'Cologne Perfumes' that Louis Vuitton released in April 2019, together with Afternoon Swim and Sun Song. Jacques Cavallier Belletrud composed all three, and artist Alex Israel designed the packaging. Afternoon Swim and Sun Song are still sold, but Cactus Garden is no longer listed in LV's California collection in France, the UK or the US. We have found no statement from Louis Vuitton about it.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Louis Vuitton stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Its tea-like character suits someone who finds most citrus colognes too sweet or too simple, and it was launched as part of a summer trio. The smoky side of the maté, noted in launch coverage, may surprise a buyer expecting a plain lemon splash.

It no longer appears in Louis Vuitton's California collection in France, the UK or the US. Its 2019 sister scents, Afternoon Swim and Sun Song, are still sold.

What does maté smell like in Cactus Garden?

Like dried green tea leaves with a herbal, slightly smoky edge. It is the note that sets Cactus Garden apart from LV's citrus colognes.

Is Louis Vuitton Cactus Garden coming back?

So far, we have found no announcement from Louis Vuitton that it will return. Our version is an eau de parfum in 50 ml or 100 ml.
