Vodka On The Rocks, inspired by Kilian Paris Vodka on the Rocks (2014)

The first spray feels chilled, like ice in a glass, with cardamom adding a green, peppery spice to the frozen accord. Kilian's own description also mentions coriander and rhubarb, which add a tart, vegetal crispness. Lily of the valley and rose follow, clear and dewy rather than heady. Underneath, oakmoss gives a damp, forest-floor bitterness and sandalwood a smooth wooden finish. At no point does it smell boozy or syrupy.

About the original

Vodka on the Rocks dates from 2014, according to fragrance databases, and is usually credited to Sidonie Lancesseur. The brand describes it as being like ice-cold vodka, deliciously dangerous. It now belongs to The Liquors collection, where it comes in a frosted bottle designed to look like a cold tumbler. Apple Brandy on the Rocks and Angels' Share on the Rocks share the naming but are separate fragrances.

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Kilian Paris stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Its chill sets it apart from Kilian's richer liquor scents. Anyone expecting a sweet cocktail will be surprised, as the floral heart and mossy base keep it dry and slightly austere.
