The Matcha 26

The Matcha 26, inspired by Le Labo Thé Matcha 26 (2021)

Matcha gives it a powdered green-tea bitterness, grassy and a little vegetal. Bitter orange tightens the start, then fig rounds everything out with a sweet, milky fruit note. Underneath, vetiver and cedar keep the base dry and earthy, so the fig never takes over. It is a contemplative scent, closer to a tea bowl than to a dessert.

About the original

Thé Matcha 26 launched on 1 October 2021 through Le Labo's website and selected retailers, and the brand frames it as a scent of introspection. It is an eau de parfum in the Classic Collection. Its name is easily mixed up with Thé Noir 29, another Le Labo scent with tea in the title but a separate composition.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Le Labo stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Tea drinkers and fans of green, understated woods are well matched. The fig adds a gentle sweetness, but the overall feel is dry and green rather than fruity. A buyer hoping for a fresh citrus splash will find it more subdued than that.

Fig comes through in the heart, sweet and milky, easing the bitterness of the tea.

Vetiver and cedarwood finish it, dry and earthy, with the matcha still faintly there.

Is this Thé Matcha 26 or Thé Noir 29?

Thé Matcha 26, the 2021 matcha and fig scent. Thé Noir 29 is a different Le Labo fragrance, which we also make.

Does Thé Matcha 26 smell sweet?

Only mildly. Fig adds sweetness, but matcha, bitter orange and vetiver keep it green and dry.
