La Vie Est Belle L'Eau De Toil. Florale, inspired by Lancôme La Vie est Belle L'Eau de Toilette Florale (2016)

Osmanthus is the note that sets it apart: a blossom that smells of apricot with a faint suede-like, leathery undertone. Paired with rose at the top, it gives the scent a fruity, sunlit opening. Mimosa adds a powdery, pollen-like texture, while violet leaf keeps a thread of green running through. Underneath sits the familiar La Vie est Belle combination of iris, patchouli and vanilla, here thinned with white musks so the sweetness stays in check.

About the original

Lancôme launched this Eau de Toilette in 2016 as a floral flanker of La Vie est Belle (2012). It is usually credited to Anne Flipo and Dominique Ropion. The bottle had a white flower sewn onto its neck, and it was sold in 50 ml and 100 ml. Its name is easily confused with La Vie est Belle L'Eau de Toilette (2014) and with the Florale Eau de Parfum, both separate scents. It is absent from Lancôme's current La Vie est Belle range.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Lancôme stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Compared with the main La Vie est Belle, it is lighter and more floral, with white musks softening the base. Iris and mimosa bring some powder, which may disappoint a buyer after a clean, transparent floral.

Rose and osmanthus open together, fruity and slightly leathery, with the apricot facet of osmanthus most obvious early on.

Mimosa and sambac jasmine fill the heart alongside fruity notes, and violet leaf adds a crisp, stem-like edge.

Later, white musks and ambery woods take the edge off the sweetness, leaving a powdery, gently vanillic finish.
