White (Emporio)

White (Emporio), inspired by Emporio Armani White for Him (2001)

White for Him starts with a spray of mixed citrus, more peel than juice. Within minutes it turns herbal, as rosemary and cardamom give it a cool, lightly spiced middle. The drydown is plain white musk, which the perfume site Osmoz likens to cotton. Nothing in it is heavy or sugary.

About the original

Armani launched it in 2001 as the men's half of the Emporio Armani White pair; White for Her is a separate fragrance. Fragrance databases credit Clément Gavarry and Olivier Polge, although we have not seen a brand source for this. A red-and-white limited bottle reportedly followed around 2007. The scent no longer appears on Armani's UK or French men's pages, and collectors report that it was discontinued some years ago.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Giorgio Armani (Emporio Armani) stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Men who prefer freshly washed scents to anything gourmand or smoky will find it easy to wear. It feels light and airy, with the musk keeping a cotton-like cleanness rather than adding depth. It has little to offer a buyer who wants sweetness or richness.

It no longer appears in Armani's men's range, and collectors report that it was discontinued years ago. Remaining bottles now turn up mainly through second-hand sellers.

The men's, White for Him from 2001. White for Her is a different fragrance by other perfumers.
