Chrome Pure, inspired by Azzaro Chrome Pure (2017)

Chrome Pure opens on mandarin and bergamot, fresh and slightly sweet, with aquatic notes giving the citrus a watery transparency. Orange blossom softens the heart, and akigalawood, a material derived from patchouli with a peppery, woody smell, gives it a gentle spice. The base is warmer than the top suggests: tonka bean brings sweetness, maté (the South American tea leaf) a dry, hay-like tone, and cedar with white musk keeps it clean.

About the original

Azzaro introduced Chrome Pure in 2017 as a flanker of Chrome, in 50 and 100 ml bottles of white matte glass. It is usually credited to Jacques Huclier and Olivier Pescheux. It was positioned as a citrus woody reworking of Chrome, warmer and sweeter than the original. Azzaro's current Chrome page does not include it, and the European retailers we checked no longer carry it.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Azzaro stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Gentle sweetness from tonka and orange blossom makes it more comforting than sporty. Men who found Chrome Legend too green may prefer it. The maté adds a dry, tea-like note that keeps the sweetness in check.

Is Azzaro Chrome Pure discontinued?

It is no longer listed in Azzaro's Chrome range, and the European retailers we checked no longer stock it. Azzaro has not published a statement we could find.

Is Chrome Pure sweeter than Chrome?

Yes. It was presented as a warmer, sweeter reading of Chrome, with tonka bean and orange blossom doing most of the work.

Is Azzaro Chrome Pure coming back?

So far, we have found no announcement from Azzaro that it will return. Our version is an eau de parfum in 50 ml or 100 ml.
