White Luminous Gold

White Luminous Gold, inspired by Michael Kors White Luminous Gold (2015)

Pear sets the tone: crisp and watery at first, with a pale sweetness. Jasmine rises through it, heady and faintly animalic (the effect perfumers call indolic), giving the composition its white-floral body. Amber, an accord built from resins and vanilla-like materials, closes it out with a rounded, glowing base. The structure is simple and clear, with each stage easy to pick out.

About the original

White Luminous Gold was announced in August 2015 as part of The Gold Collection, alongside 24K Brilliant Gold and Rose Radiant Gold. It is a flanker of Michael Kors White (2014), a tuberose and freesia scent, and should be kept apart from it. The brand summed it up as an intoxicating burst of fruit, flower and amber. It is no longer listed by Michael Kors, and remaining bottles now turn up mainly at discount retailers.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Michael Kors stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Pear-led fruit gives it an approachable, cheerful side, while jasmine and amber add enough substance to make it feel polished. If heady jasmine bothers you, the heart may feel heavy on the skin.

It no longer appears in the current Michael Kors fragrance range, and we have not found a statement from the brand about it. Old stock still circulates at discounters.

No. White (2014) centres on tuberose and freesia; White Luminous Gold (2015) is a later flanker that pairs pear with jasmine over amber.
