Colonia Intensa, inspired by Acqua di Parma Colonia Intensa (2007)

Calabrian bergamot and Sicilian lemon give a classic Italian cologne start, but cardamom and ginger push it towards spice almost at once. Myrtle, a Mediterranean shrub with a herbal, slightly medicinal leaf, joins artemisia and neroli in the heart. The base is where Intensa earns its name: a leather accord over cedarwood and patchouli, rounded by musk and by benzoin, a resin with a vanilla-like tone.

About the original

Colonia Intensa joined the Acqua di Parma Colonia collection in 2007. The house classifies it as citrus leather woody, and it is often described as darker and more mature than the original Colonia. It is now sold in a restyled Art Deco bottle and remains in the current range. It is a different scent from Colonia Intensa Oud (2012), an eau de cologne concentrée.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Acqua di Parma stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Compared with a straight citrus cologne, it has more substance thanks to the leather and patchouli, and the brand presents it in gender-neutral terms. Leather in the base may feel too dry or dark for buyers who want pure citrus; Colonia Club is the mintier, more herbal option.

Bergamot and lemon come first, lifted by cardamom and ginger so the citrus has a spiced, aromatic edge.

Myrtle and artemisia give the heart a herbal, slightly bitter green tone, with neroli adding a floral note.

The drydown brings the leather accord forward over cedarwood and patchouli, while benzoin and musk round it off.

This page is Colonia Intensa, the 2007 eau de cologne with citrus, myrtle and leather. Colonia Intensa Oud (2012) is a separate concentrée, which we also make.

How does Colonia Intensa differ from Colonia Club?

Intensa leans towards spice, leather and woods, while the 2015 Colonia Club is minty and herbal with a vetiver and musk finish. Both are in our range.
