D By Diesel, inspired by Diesel D by Diesel (2022)

D starts with ginger, which gives a fizzy, peppery lift, and lavender, which keeps the top aromatic in the old barbershop manner. Its centre is a denim-cotton accord, a textile effect that smells like fabric fresh from the dryer. Vanilla forms the base and rounds off the herbal edge without turning the scent into a dessert. Structurally it is an ambery fougère, built from very few notes.

About the original

Diesel launched D in 2022 as its first gender-fluid fragrance. Three Givaudan perfumers composed it: Nisrine Grillié, Shyamala Maisondieu and Louise Turner. The bottle is shaped like the brand's 'For Successful Living' logo crushed in a fist, uses 25% recycled glass and is refillable in every size. Later flankers, D RED and D RED Le Parfum, are separate scents in the same range.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Diesel stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Diesel markets D to everyone, and its clean-laundry centre makes it an easy, unfussy choice. Ginger keeps the top brisk, and vanilla adds a mild sweetness at the end. Someone looking for a woody or smoky men's scent will find it too clean.

Diesel created it as its first all-gender scent. We list it with our men's fragrances, but it is meant for anyone.

Is this D or D RED?

This page is the original D by Diesel from 2022, sold by Diesel as an eau de toilette. D RED and D RED Le Parfum are later flankers with their own compositions.

What does the denim accord smell like?

Clean cotton and fresh laundry rather than actual denim. It gives the scent its laundered centre.
