Beau De Jour, inspired by Tom Ford Beau de Jour (2019)

Lavender is the backbone, doubled with lavandin, its hardier, more camphor-like cousin. African rosemary gives the heart a resinous, herbal bite, and geranium adds a green, slightly rosy freshness. Oakmoss and patchouli then pull everything down into a dry, mossy base, the traditional finish of a fougère.

About the original

Tom Ford introduced Beau de Jour around early 2019 in its Private Blend collection, and a Signature Collection version in a clear fluted bottle followed in early 2020. The brand calls it an aromatic fougère and markets it to men, with the perfectly groomed gentleman in mind. Its name plays on Buñuel's film Belle de Jour. It is still on sale through Tom Ford's UK site.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Tom Ford stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Grooming is the theme, so expect barbershop lavender and moss rather than anything sweet or smoky. Press coverage describes it as bright, fresh and classic for everyday wear. Its traditional structure may feel old-fashioned to someone looking for a modern, sugary lavender.
