Aoud Vanille

Aoud Vanille, inspired by Mancera Aoud Vanille (2015)

Aoud Vanille starts dry, with Nepalese oud and spice giving a peppery, woody grip from the first spray. A floral heart passes through without taking over. Vanilla then spreads across everything, rounding the oud's darker edges, and sandalwood adds a milky wood underneath. Mancera's own phrase for it, dry notes wrapped in vanilla, describes the shape well.

About the original

Aoud Vanille comes from Mancera, the sister house of Montale, and is easily mixed up with Montale's own vanilla scents such as Dark Vanilla and Vanilla Cake. Montale has no fragrance of this name. fragrance references date the Mancera release to around 2015. The brand files it among its woody scents and calls it a sensual oud with spiced vanilla.

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Mancera stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Vanilla lovers who find gourmand scents too sugary are its natural audience, since oud and spice keep it grounded. Oud is present from the opening, not tucked away in the base, which matters if you are wary of that note.
